Building a Bassi

We've prepared a few suggestions for how to build a Bassi, including parts we can wholesale to Bassi dealers in Canada and parts you may need to source on your own. Please write in if you have compatibility questions.

Hog's Back Wiggler (flat bar)

Parts we do not wholesale:

  • Downtube housing stops (Shimano SM-CS50 or alternative)
  • Up to five centimeters of 28.6mm headset spacers
  • Avid BB7 MTB-pull brakes, post mount, with IS adapters, or equivalent
  • Avid Speed Dial 7 brake levers, or equivalent MTB-pull levers
  • 160mm rotors with +0 front and +20 rear IS adapters
  • Compressionless brake housing (Jagwire KEB-SL)
  • 11-speed chain (KMC X11)
  • Microshift XCD Rear Derailer (RD-M865M)
  • Microshift XCD Trigger shifter (SL-M861-R)
  • Microshift 11-speed cassette, 11-46t (CS-H113)
  • Standard lined shift housing and cable
  • Wheels:
    • 135mm rear, 100mm front, QR
    • For 54cm and 58cm frames: 27.5" [ISO 584mm] wheels (WTB i23 laced to M525, or any equivalent)
    • For 47cm and 51cm frames: 26" [ISO 559mm] wheels (WTB i23 or Sun Rhyno Lite laced to M525, or any equivalent)
  • Continental Race King 2.2" tires, or any cross-country style equivalent
  • Racks, dynamo lights, fenders: all standard touring options fit very easily. If using Soma Champs Élysées mini-rack, select 130mm wide option.
Hog's Back Tourer (drop bar)

Parts we do not wholesale:

  • Microshift 2/3 x 9-speed bar-end shifters (BS-T09) or vintage/new friction or indexed bar-ends
  • 9-speed chain (KMC Z9, Shimano HG53, SRAM PC-970, etc)
  • 9-speed cassette, 11-36 (Microshift CS-H092, Shimano HG400, etc)
  • Downtube housing stops (Shimano SM-CS50 or alternative)
  • Up to five centimeters of 28.6mm headset spacers
  • Avid BB7 Road-pull brakes, post mount, with IS adapters, or equivalent
  • TRP RRL ergo brake levers, or any drop-bar road-pull brake-only levers
  • 160mm rotors with +0 front and +20 rear IS adapters
  • Compressionless brake housing (Jagwire KEB-SL)
  • Standard lined shift housing and cable
  • Wheels:
    • 135mm rear, 100mm front, QR
    • For 54cm and 58cm frames: 700C [ISO 622mm] wheels (WTB i23 laced to M525, or any equivalent)
    • For 47cm and 51cm frames: 650B [ISO 584mm] wheels (WTB i23 laced to M525, or any equivalent)
  • Road or touring tires from 42mm to 47mm
  • Racks, dynamo lights, fenders: all standard touring options fit very easily. If using Soma Champs Élysées mini-rack, select 130mm wide option.
Montreal Rando (drop bar)

Parts we do not wholesale:

  • 6mm of 1-inch headset spacers if desired
  • Downtube housing stops (Shimano SM-CS50 or alternative)
  • 9-speed cassette, 11-36 (Microshift CS-H092, Shimano HG400, etc)
  • 9-speed chain (KMC Z9, Shimano HG53, SRAM PC-970, etc)
  • Microshift 2/3 x 9-speed bar-end shifters (BS-T09) or vintage/new friction or indexed bar-ends
  • Wheels:
    • 130 or 135mm rear (135 recommended for best possible chainline), 100mm front, QR
    • 46cm and 49cm frames: 26" rim-brake wheels
    • 52cm and 55cm frames: 650B rim-brake wheels (VO, Pacenti, Velocity, Zac-19, CR18 - please contact us for suggestions if needed, these are pretty rare and may need to be hand-built)
    • 58cm and 61cm frames: 700C rim-brake wheels
  • Panaracer Pasela PT tires, up to 47mm
  • Racks, dynamo lights, fenders: all standard options fit very easily. Fork features low-rider eyelets but not mini-rack hourglass eyelets. Crown race and bridge undersides are drilled and threaded for hidden fender fitment.
Montreal City (flat bar)

Parts we do not wholesale:

  • 6mm of 1-inch headset spacers if desired
  • Downtube housing stops (Shimano SM-CS50 or alternative)
  • 8-speed cassette, 11-34t (Microshift CS-H081, Shimano HG200, etc)
  • 8-speed chain (KMC Z8.1, Shimano HG40, SRAM PC-850, etc)
  • Shimano SL-M315 8-speed right shifter, or any 8-speed flat-bar shifter including thumbies
  • Wheels:
    • 130 or 135mm rear, 100mm front, QR
    • 46cm and 49cm frames: 26" rim-brake wheels
    • 52cm and 55cm frames: 650B rim-brake wheels (VO, Pacenti, Velocity, Zac-19, CR18 - please contact us for suggestions if needed, these are pretty rare and may need to be hand-built)
    • 58cm and 61cm frames: 700C rim-brake wheels
  • Urban or flat-resistant tires, up to 47mm

    • 47cm and 51cm frames: 26" rim-brake wheels
    • 55cm and 59cm frames: 700C rim-brake wheels
  • Urban or flat-resistant tires, up to 47mm on 700C and 2.0" on 26"
  • Rack, dynamo lights, fenders: all standard options fit very easily. Fork features low-rider eyelets and mini-rack hourglass eyelets. Crown race and bridge undersides are drilled and threaded for hidden fender fitment.
Bloomfield V2

Parts we do not wholesale:

  • 6mm of 1-inch headset spacers if desired
  • Track chain, 1/8" (Izumi, SRAM PC-1, KMC S1)
  • 650B rim-brake 32-hole rims (VO, Pacenti, Velocity, Zac-19, CR18 - please contact us for suggestions if needed, these are pretty rare and will almost certainly need to be hand-built)
  • Tires 650B up to 48mm, such as Panaracer Pasela PT, Gravel King, and many more
  • Freewheel, 1/8" singlespeed. BMX parts work, as well as Shimano and White Industries parts.
  • Rack, fenders: standard fenders fit very easily. Fork features mini-rack hourglass eyelets. Crown race and bridge undersides are drilled and threaded for hidden fender fitment, and inward-facing fender eyelets allow for hidden stay hardware.
