Create an accountWe're big believers in double and triple transmissions for comfortable long-distance riding, regardless of the current popularity of single-chainring systems. They just give more range, using cheaper and more compatible parts, than anything else. However, we can't and shouldn't all be forced to use the same standards set by professional racers forty years ago: huge chainrings and tight-range cassettes meant for a steady 40km/h in a peloton.
Enter the compact double: our crankset is built on the same handsome forging as the Bassi Narrow-Wide crank we've been using on many of our bikes, but uses a 46-tooth large and 34-tooth small chainring. This makes it far easier to use the big ring for most riding, then drop to the small for long climbs. Paired with an 11-34t cassette (within range of all nearly all current Shimano derailers, and I can personally attest you can sneak in a 36-tooth on some of them), you'll have 1:1 development on the easiest gear, which is enough for road climbs up to about 12% for most riders, while being able to use almost any shifting system off the shelf, no need to puzzle over capacities or chain lengths.
- 46/34t chainrings
- Polished silver or black anodized
- 12-tooth jump makes this compatible with all commonly available front and rear derailers and most from the past
- For 7/8/9/10 speeds
- Square taper JIS
- 122mm spindle recommended for 135mm rear hub
- Q-factor: 147.2mm
- 110mm BCD, widely available replacement chainrings
- 170mm forged aluminium arms, for durability and strength
The BB lengths are our suggestion, but they may need adjusting inward or outward according to your frame for chainstay clearance, or for rear hub over locknut dimension spacings that are different than those we specify
